El Paso County (CO) ADA Asset Measurement Project

The Matrix team successfully completed the El Paso County ADA Asset Measurement Project, conducting a comprehensive assessment of accessibility features across the county.

The project involved evaluating:

• 7,200+ curb ramps
• 605 miles of sidewalks
• 2,800 intersections

Utilizing ArcGIS Field Maps, the team was able to streamline data collection ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with ADA and PROWAG standards. Upon completing data collection, Matrix:

• Designed 4 improvement projects.
• Developed written prioritization and implementation plans; and
• Currently designing an additional 11 improvement projects with more planned.

This detailed assessment laid a strong foundation for targeted, effective future upgrades.

City of Scottsdale (AZ) ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan

Another key ADA project underway is Matrix’s development of a comprehensive ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan for the City of Scottsdale. This initiative aims to identify and eliminate barriers to accessibility across:

• 38 parks
• 2,000 miles of sidewalks
• 14,800 curb ramps
• 593 transit stops; and
• Many other citywide assets

The plan prioritizes the removal of accessibility barriers, incorporates public input, estimates costs, and delivers a user-friendly Transition Plan with clearly defined milestones to guide ADA compliance and improve accessibility throughout the city. This project is designed to support Scottsdale’s long-term compliance efforts and foster a more inclusive environment for all.

Future Work: Maricopa County Parks & Recreation Department (AZ) and City of Cincinnati (OH) ADA Transition Plans

Matrix is preparing to lead two major ADA Transition Plan projects: Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department, AZ; and the City of Cincinnati, OH.

Both projects are being conducted in collaboration with Direct Access, a leading accessibility firm. Matrix will apply its innovative, GIS-forward methodologies to identify and assess accessibility gaps across hundreds of aviation, recreation, emergency response, and park facilities.

The work will focus on:

• Identifying and addressing accessibility gaps
• Engaging stakeholders
• Ensuring that both clients meet ADA compliance requirements

Each resulting Transition Plan will be tailored to the unique needs of its community, using data-driven insights and a compliance-focused approach to guide improvements and ensure long-term accessibility outcomes.
