Kevin Lardner, PE

Director of Structures

Kevin is an Associate Vice President and Director of Structural Services at Matrix Design Group. He has over 10 years’ experience serving as a project manager for structural and transportation projects at the city, state, and federal levels throughout the United States. As a project manager, Kevin has managed multimillion-dollar design efforts involving state Departments of Transportation, railroad, and municipal stakeholders. His approach to project management stems from a commitment to proactively mitigate risk to ensure conformance with project schedules and budgets.

As a lead structural engineer, Kevin has designed vehicular and pedestrian bridges that range from simple, single-span bridges to multi-span bridges over 800 feet long over roadways, rivers, and heavy and light rail lines. His expertise extends to retaining wall design, as well as cast-in-place concrete cantilever, mechanically stabilized earth, sheet pile, gravity, and gabion basket walls. His additional structural expertise includes the design of civil stormwater structures, such as outlet structures, culverts, and impact stilling basins, as well as the rehabilitation of potable water storage tank structures, including below-ground concrete tanks and above-ground steel tanks.

Kevin is an NHI-certified bridge inspector. He has served as lead bridge inspector for over 500 bridge structures for both cities and federal agencies, including performing load ratings using AASHTOWare BrR software. He has performed load ratings for interstate and military vehicles classification where limited existing structure information is available. His knowledge of bridge design and inspection allows him to support clients by developing a prioritization list for the rehabilitation and replacement of maintenance items identified during inspections, saving time and money and protecting safety and welfare over the long-term.
