Sanctuary Pointe Phase 2 Safety Review

The Town of Monument, Colorado’s Planning Department sought Matrix’s expertise performing a safety audit on a development design through our on-call contract with the Town. Our Project Manager recommended a sight-distance analysis instead of the safety audit, a formal process defined by the Federal Highway Administration and more than what was needed. Matrix reviewed the roadway designs and analyzed the vertical and horizontal sight-distances for all proposed intersections within the development. Our Team met with Town representatives and the developer to identify where sight-distance issues existed and recommended the creation of easements to keep intersection sight-distance triangles free of obstructions. The development was able to move forward with the implementation of sight-distance easements, saving both the developer and the Town of Monument time and money with a quick and easy solution at a handful of locations with sight-distance issues.
