Peoria Street Widening

Through the Douglas County Minor Roadway On-call contract, Matrix is supporting the Peoria Street roadway widening project. When Peoria was constructed, two-way traffic was placed in two lanes on the southbound section of the roadway in an interim condition. The County needed to expand the roadway due to capacity issues, and Matrix designed the new north bound section to provide the 4-lane divided highway that was ultimately desited. The Lincoln Ave./Peoria St. intersection was completed and is now controlled by a traffic signal. The project tasks included researching existing conditions, evaluating previous design plans, and reports, and implementing the pertinent information to prepare new County-compliant final construction documents. Our water resource group was also able to provide a water quality pond by purchasing a small amount of right-of-way.
