Through the Douglas County Minor Roadway on-call contract, Matrix supported the Peoria Street roadway widening project. When Peoria was constructed, two-way traffic was placed in two lanes on the southbound section of the roadway in an interim condition. The County needed to expand the roadway due to capacity issues, and Matrix designed the new northbound section to provide the four-lane divided highway that was ultimately de-sited. The Lincoln Avenue/Peoria Street intersection was completed and is now controlled by a traffic signal.

The project tasks included researching existing conditions, evaluating previous design plans and reports, and implementing the pertinent information to prepare new County-compliant final construction documents. Our water resources group was also able to provide a water quality pond by purchasing a small amount of right-of-way.
