Matrix conducted extensive research and analyses of housing market data for defense communities in Florida to make recommendations specifically to overcome affordability and availability challenges. Our team provided a comparative quantitative analysis that offers insight into the availability of multifamily attached housing — a key determinant of housing costs — throughout the state. A second research phase focused on communities that have successfully faced and addressed similar affordability and availability challenges. A third phase included researching and coordinating with local housing authorities for the defense communities, the Florida Housing Finance Corporation, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to identify best practices for supporting under-served populations. The project culminated in a report that presents all research parameters and results, as well as actionable recommendations for addressing housing challenges.
