Top Golf Retaining Walls

Matrix was tasked with designing retaining walls along the Top Golf parking lot in the Larkridge development in Thornton, Colorado. The walls were positioned for a two-tiered wall system, with the exposed height of the wall closest to the parking lot five feet and the exposed height of the walls behind upward of 13 feet.

The walls were designed in accordance with AASHTO Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) specifications due to the proximity of 160th Avenue. The walls were laid out to allow for a future widening of the road, as well as the 160th Avenue bridge over Interstate 25. The walls feature a modular block facing that blends in with the surrounding development. The walls are structurally restrained using geosynthetic geogrid with a 75-year design life.
