Broomfield's Plan to Revitalize the 1st Bank Event Center

30 April 2024

In the heart of Broomfield, Colorado, nestled northwest of Downtown Denver, stands the 1st Bank Event Center — a once vibrant hub for community gatherings and entertainment. Erected between 2006 and 2007, this multi-purpose arena boasts an impressive 150,000 square feet of space and can accommodate up to 6,500 spectators. However, the venue has gradually become underutilized over its 16-year course, with its official closure on November 23, 2023. Now, the City and County of Broomfield is moving forward with demolition plans to revitalize the area.

Matrix has been brought on to oversee this ambitious project, and preconstruction services are set to begin in May. Our Team will develop project plans, obtain permits, conduct an environmental survey, coordinate utility disconnects, and monetize reusable assets. Throughout the process, we will collaborate closely with the City and County. We are dedicated to helping them achieve their goal of adopting a sustainable approach to demolition while keeping the project within budget and on schedule. Through innovative strategies centered on reuse and recycling, we will divert as much demolition waste away from landfills as possible.

Demolition should commence before the end of the year and be completed by October 2025. We look forward to seeing how this space will transform into something remarkable!
