Precision at its Finest: Pioneering Project along the Colorado River
06 February 2024
We are finalizing a groundbreaking project along the picturesque Colorado River, stretching from Kremmling to Dotsero, Colorado. This endeavor marks a significant milestone in our commitment to cutting-edge technology and environmental stewardship.
The project was a comprehensive Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and Photogrammetric drone survey covering 10 diverse sites that spanned over 200 acres. The primary objective of this survey was to enable continuous monitoring of the river by the Upper Colorado River Wild and Scenic Stakeholder Group to establish a robust baseline for future river monitoring, ensuring sustainability for decades to come.
Utilizing state-of-the-art drones equipped with high-accuracy drone-mounted sensors, we executed 75 individual flight takeoffs. The outcome? Absolute accuracies of less than 5 cm, showcasing our unparalleled precision and excellence.
Using this data we developed high-resolution aerial orthomosaics. These provide a captivating top-down view of the river and its surrounding banks and a detailed set of geomorphology, landcover, and river channel feature polygons for each flight area.
At Matrix, our commitment transcends conventional surveys. We see ourselves as architects of a visual narrative that contributes to informed decision-making and fosters sustainable practices. Our dedication to environmental consciousness echoes through every project we undertake.
