Hiraga brings established relationships in both the public and private sectors and more than 25 years of experience addressing complex challenges, facilitating mutually beneficial agreements among diverse groups, and developing cutting edge solution sets. His work spans economic development, real estate development, aviation/transportation, government affairs, international business development, finance, and private-public partnerships. Hiraga is excited to join our team as we are growing: "I believe that at Matrix I have found the critical mass of talented staff with the depth of knowledge and corporate culture needed to make a positive impact on communities."
Prior to joining Matrix, Hiraga was appointed Executive Director of Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO) by Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock and oversaw the City’s efforts to create an inclusive and innovative economy for all residents, businesses, and neighborhoods. Hiraga led the Mayor’s Economic Relief and Recovery Council and the development of the City’s economic relief and recovery plan: RISE Denver - Rebuilding for an Inclusive and Sustainable Economy. As the mayoral-appointed Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff for Denver International Airport (DEN) — at the time a $1-billion-dollar operation with 35,000 employees — Hiraga oversaw multiple divisions of the facility. He led the creation of the airport’s strategic plan and oversaw the execution of multiple expansion/development projects while managing Air Service Development, Human Resources, Marketing, Procurement, Concessions/Commercial, Finance, Marketing and Communications, Customer Service, and Government Affairs.
“Eric possesses substantial experience and valuable perspective through his years of service with the government and as a successful, visionary business executive,” said Sal Nodjomian, Chief Executive Officer for Matrix. “I am excited that we will have the benefit of his tremendous insights, relationships, knowledge, and vision in the Denver region, which will be invaluable as Matrix continues to grow as a leader in the A-E industry.”
