State Highway 7 Widening
Matrix completed preliminary and final design for the roadway expansion of SH-7 from two to four lanes including auxiliary lanes. The work involved the redesign of existing signalized intersections and ramps at the nearby I-25 interchange; the design of two new signalized intersections; the placement of an existing canal crossing structure with a new box culvert crossing; major drainage improvements; signing, striping, and construction traffic control; right-of-way acquisitions; permitting and clearances; and construction engineering services.
The project required a significant construction phasing plan to permit two-way traffic to remain open during construction coupled with extensive utility coordination to identify potential relocations prior to construction. The project was reviewed by multiple agencies including Adams County, City of Thornton, and CDOT and was successfully completed in 2008.
