NAS Corpus Christi Joint Land Use Study
APA Outstanding Collaborative Planning Award 2013, Honorable Mention
The NAS Corpus Christi Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) encompasses NAS Corpus Christi’s main base, including the main airfield (Truax Field), its two auxiliary landing fields (Cabaniss and Waldron), and the Corpus Christi International Airport. With input from community stakeholders, military representatives, and the public, Matrix developed updated comprehensive plan components that provide the city with strategies for community development compatible with activities at neighboring NAS Corpus Christi.
The study also provides other planning tools such as energy development guidelines and transportation corridor plans. In compliance with the city’s objective for going green, Matrix produced a Smart Growth Plan to protect the natural open spaces in the area.
