Matrix provided project management and transportation planning and design services for the Lake Avenue Urban Renewal Corridor located on the south side of Pueblo. This roadway was formerly State Highway 85/87 and is located directly east of Lake Minnequa.  The project involves converting the four-lane roadway into a three-lane street section with a center turn lane and raised median.

Matrix worked closely with the City of Pueblo and the Urban Renewal Authority to develop an updated transportation master plan for the corridor including a phasing and implementation plan.  Matrix also provided a 3D simulation of the completed corridor to facilitate public understanding of the finished street condition. The first phase of this four phase project was recently completed.

Upon completion, the street will provide a gateway into an urban revitalization and recreational area. The design will ultimately convert an overcapacity four-lane roadway into a complete street pedestrian friendly zone. The design will provide for traffic calming measures such as a roundabout at Streator Avenue and a raised intersection at Highland Avenue. Also to be included are a raised median for access control and parallel parking to provide a buffer between the pedestrian zone and the travel lanes for vehicles.

Services included:
