Guam Compatibility/Sustainability Study
As a territory of the United States, the Island of Guam has been identified to host a significant component of U.S. armed forces for the region. Acting as the primary consultant to the government of Guam, Matrix produced the Compatibility/Sustainability Study (CSS). The CSS addresses land use compatibility with current military operations and the impact of the military buildup due to the relocation of troops from Okinawa.
In addition to land use and airspace issues, the study examines the placement of munitions and missile launch facilities associated with the proposed Air Missile Defense Task Force. The CSS provides a set of strategies to be implemented by both the local community and military to address issues such as communications and coordination, land use, safety, infrastructure, public access, cultural resources, and water quality and supply.
