Matrix developed and implemented a process for converting wastewater collection system CAD data to a GIS format for all facilities at Denver International Airport (DIA). GIS data were primarily generated from as-built drawings, which existed in an AutoCAD format. Wastewater features and associated attributes were extracted and added to DIA’s wastewater GIS data model. Flow directionality was maintained and invert elevations were extracted. We developed a series of custom geoprocessing models to expedite the conversion process as well as QA/QC. Wastewater facilities include force mains, gravity mains, manholes, lift stations, and valves. All features are part of a geometric network, which will allow for a variety of GIS-based wastewater collection system analyses, such as upstream and downstream tracing
